Our manifesto: the least invasive treatment possible
Not the cheapest option. Not the one that's easiest to sell. The one a dentist would choose if the patient in the chair were their own family.
Most patients can't tell the difference between a treatment plan that's necessary and one that isn't. That's not a knock on patients — it's the whole reason dentistry requires a license. But it means the only real check on overtreatment is another dentist, one with nothing to gain from the answer.
That's the entire manifesto. Everything below is just what it means in practice — for how we review your case, and for which dentists we'll ever put our name behind.
How we review
This is what toothcheck itself is held to, before it ever asks anything of a dentist in our network.
We don't own a practice
Flat fee, not commission
Independent, always
Who we recommend
When your review finds you've been quoted work you don't need, the obvious next question is: then who should I see? These four commitments are our answer. Every dentist in our network has agreed to all of them.
We give patients a written treatment plan as standard
Not on request. Every patient leaves with the plan in writing.
We give an itemised quote before any work begins
Line by line, with the cost of each procedure, before the patient commits.
We discuss the more conservative option first, where one exists
Including watchful waiting, when that is genuinely reasonable.
We will see a patient who arrives with an independent second opinion
Without treating it as a challenge. This is the one most practices have never been asked, and it matters most to the people we send you.
See it for yourself
Already have a treatment plan? Get an independent second opinion. Don't have a dentist you trust yet? We'll point you to one who's agreed to this manifesto.
